We begin the auditing process with a Google search. Put on the prospective customer hat for a moment, and pretend you are looking for more information about your company on the Internet.
Here are a few questions to consider as you look at the results:
- Can you find your full company name on Google and other search engines?
- Does your company and its website appear on the first page and within the first 5 search results?
- Do all of your social media feeds also appear on the first page?
After analyzing the search results for your business, the next step is reviewing SEO (search engine optimization) to assure all metadata descriptions are helping search engines identify what your business actually does.
A few more questions to consider:
- Does a metatag come up when searching for your business?
- Does it tell prospects specifically what your business does?
- Have you included well-researched keywords in your metatag?
